  Professional Identity and Career Paper

You will complete a Professional Identity and Career Essay. Be sure the body of your paper reflects/supports this as a critical issue. The Essay must be 6 pages in length (not including your abstract, title page, or reference page).  Your answers to the research paper should be thoroughly explained in paragraph form. Your answers should cover the particulars of the questions and include an example of your understanding of the question in general.  Formal writing means using proper English, including grammatical, mechanics, and spelling rules.  All references must be cited using in-text citations, and/or a bibliography resources list.

Use the discussion and samples to help guide the structure of your literature review. Who tells the story in “A Rose for Emily?” How would you characterize the narrator–an outside observer or an important character(s) in the story?

English 1020 Essay 1 – Short Story Analysis

Essay Requirements:

1. Students must choose a short story from chapters 7-14 in our textbook that was not an

assigned reading (if you are unsure which stories were assigned, check the Course Schedule

located in the Syllabus and Schedule tab in Blackboard).

2. There are two goals of the essay:

a. To analyze the short story using short story formalist elements. DO NOT

summarize (meaning to retell) the short story in your papers. You are encouraged to use

the chapter checklists to help you with your analysis, but do not just answer the

questions. This should be a developed essay.
